e-Vetting, a term derived from the concept of electronic vetting, is an online security screening system introduced by the Malaysian government. This system is overseen by the Office of the Chief Government Security Officer under the Prime Minister’s Department. e-Vetting aims to ensure that all public servants have a good record throughout their service with the government. It is also a requisite for new public servant appointees during their probation period before their positions are confirmed.

The e-Vetting process is designed to counter subversive activities, espionage, sabotage, and terrorism from within and outside the country. It is capable of identifying personality weaknesses of public servants that might lead them to disclose official confidential information.
